How Geothermal Works

Geothermal Heating

In the heating cycle, a geothermal heat pump utilizes the earth loop system to draw the heat from the ground. With delivery through a conventional duct system, the geothermal system pulls heat from the loops and circulates it as warm air. Other choices are available to use that same heat energy to provide hot water heating and radiant floor heat.

Geothermal Cooling

During the cooling mode, cool, conditioned air is circulated through the house by reversing the heating process. Heat is not pulled, instead it is propelled into the ground. The warm heat is extracted from your home and moved back into the earth loop. Your hot water heating can be fueled by this procedure as well.
